My Mission

For many years the tedious commentary and strange team names have put me off watching any kind of football in the U.S.A. However I have decided my football snobbery might mean I am missing out on something wonderful. I don’t watch football for the beautiful passing game of Barcelona or to see Manchester United win everything. So maybe an average game of ‘soccer’ in the states would be just for me. Therefore I have finally decided to give Major League Soccer a chance. For geographical reasons I have chosen to support Toronto FC of the Eastern Conference, an average Canadian side with few stand out players. I hope to understand, appreciate and maybe even enjoy Major League Soccer by the end of my journey.

I hope you enjoy my blog.

Why Toronto? For your sake, you may be more inclined to follow Montréal Impact. A team that is a division 2 team today will join the league in March of 2012. I think it’d be more interesting to follow a team from their inaugural season. That’s just my two cents.

  2. Well done Jimmy. Keep it up… If you stay local to TFC (I’m a season ticket holder), maybe we can do some fundraising with the supporter groups and bring you over for a match at BMO next year! 🙂

You need to get yourself out to LIVESTRONG Sporting Park in Kansas City. I joined Sporting KC this year as their announcer from the BBC. Absolutely love it out here. MLS is on the up all the time and its very exciting to be apart of.

Also give listens to your fellow brit Arlo White… announcer for the Seattle Sounders FC… he makes the match
